Mark J. Schlant heads up the firm’s Bankruptcy Practice. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1961. He graduated from Cornell University with distinction in 1983, and from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1986.
Mr. Schlant was admitted to the Bar of New York in 1987. He was admitted to practice in the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District in 1987. His primary practice areas are Bankruptcy Law, both commercial and consumer, for both debtors and creditors, and has has been involved in numerous Chapter 11 proceedings, cross-border bankruptcy cases and other commercial cases. He served on the Panel of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York since 1992, in which he has administered the bankruptcy estates of many individuals and businesses, including a nursing home, an energy marketer, medical and dental practices, furniture stores, printing companies, a transportation company and several restaurants. His primary practice areas are Bankruptcy Law, both commercial and consumer, for both debtors and creditors, and he has been involved in numerous Chapter 11 proceedings, cross-border bankruptcy cases and other commercial cases.
Mr. Schlant also practices Corporate Law, Real Estate Law, and Probate and Surrogate’s Practice, and has handled numerous substantial transactions.
